Hilton Amsterdam Hotel, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.Amsterdam has two official tourist offices: one in the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Terminal and one in front of the Central Station in an old style wooden house called Noord-Zuid Hollandsch Koffiehuis – North-South Dutch Coffee House. These offices not only inform you about the city in a professional way but can also give you free small maps and folders with information about the city.
While there is only one official tourist information office in the city center open only until 5 pm, it is usually really crowded and getting help during the summer season means waiting in a long line. Therefore we advise you to use for the reservation of the accommodation our on-line reservation system. It is free (reservation at the Tourist Office is €3), safe and will not charge your credit card until you actually stay at the hotel.
To buy a public transport card, so called OV chip-card for a limited period of time w advise you to go to the City Public Transport Office GVB, located directly at the Tourist Office, in the same wooden building, which has longer opening hours (Monday to Friday 7 am – 9 pm, Saturday – Sunday 8 am – 9 pm), and is very efficient in helping clients. Tourist information regarding travel in Amsterdam and its surroundings may be also obtained there.
To buy a discount card to the city museums we advise you to consider two other discount cards – Amsterdam Holland Pass which can be purchased at the GWK exchange office in the West hall of the Central Station, or the Museum Card which can be obtained at the box office of any museum participating in their program.
Apart from these information centres there are interactive tourist information computer touch-screens located at the following locations in Amsterdam:
at the Stadsschouwburg Theater box office, Leidseplein 26
and at Inntel Hotels
